Russell Crowe (lead vocals, guitar) and his long time friend Dean Cochran (guitar) have been together making music since 1984. For many years that they have been together, they didn't have an official name for the band. They did aquire the name Roman Antix, ironically enough but that didn't seem to fit the style that they have when writing their music, during that time period. Of course one should never judge someone's music based on the name of the band. It took Russell and Dean approximately 10 years to come up with the name fittingly enough 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. Their style of music is a mixture of alternative rock, country, blues, and pop.
